FILE SETUP

I use Family Tree Maker Version 5.01 and all my information is stored and sorted with that program..Sources are recorded for most pieces of information, but sources are not included on the web site to conserve space..........I will eventually include a web page ...currently low priority...to itemize all sources of information as indicated on the opening page.
New information is continually added to the master files and in order to minimize the task of tieing all individuals together into a cohesive package while maintaining the correct relationships to parents for those whose parents are unknown,....I have created ficticious individuals to act as parents.......
"MAIN COLLECTOR" serves as the father at the top of the pyramid
His children are "NFLD BOYLES","NFLD JOYCE","ONTARIO JOYCE", etc.....
Children of NFLD JOYCE will include "MISC JOYCE" who will be the father of all those Nfld Joyces whose real parents have not been identified.....a similar system is used for other surnames.

If you working on my wife's FRENCH CONNECTION, the same setup is used....COTE and CLOUTIER are the key differentiation, and each has a number of ficticious individuals to hold those who have not been fully identified....These will be obvious as you work your way through the files....

WEB SITE DATABASE

The database is generated from a Family Tree Maker GEDCOM using another program called PROGEN...Progen generates a complete web site and I had to modify the program by trial and error to insert a HOME button to be able to get out of the database and return to my site opening page....This will take you back but it retains the bottom panel from Progen.....and if you enter the database again a duplicate panel is created.....I haven't solved this problem yet.... The easiest solution for you, if you have left the database and wish to return again, is to call up the main site again....Bookmark it when you enter for the first time......

When you first enter the database........Do take the time to read the help information which explains the available options..... It also explaining the symbols attached to the dates whenever estimates or approximations are made.....

I welcome suggestions on how to improve things..just drop me an E-Mail message from the opening page.
